The John F. Kennedy Secret Society Speech, JFK gave on April 27, 1961.
 
It is frequently provided as a glimpse into the 35th U.S. president’s view of the press. Indeed, the president addressed the American Publisher’s Association in New York City that day and titled his oration “The President and the Press.But he did not only urge the assembled publishers to maintain their mission as a balance to political power, as a questioner and informer; the speech was also a warning to the nation. President Eisenhower prior to him had warned of the “military industrial complex” in his final address only months earlier.
